Big Bazar will give a discount on the stock of bargains that are still on the shelves of branches of the collapsed discounter. In this way, the curator hopes that customers will continue to come while a takeover candidate is being sought.
More than a week ago, the curtain fell for Big Bazar. Various landlords and suppliers had filed for bankruptcy because the discount chain had not paid its bills for a long time.
Due to these financial problems, no new supplies have been delivered to Big Bazar for some time and the shelves are becoming emptier.
Takeover candidates
The curator reports today that “about twenty candidates” have registered so far. They would like to take over Big Bazar in whole or in part.
“To keep the stores interesting for candidates for a restart, the curators believe it is important that Big Bazar customers continue to find the stores,” the administrator reports. “Since it is not possible to purchase new stock due to the bankruptcy, the curators have decided to give discounts on the items in the stores.”
The curator does not yet want to say which parties have shown interest, because the discussions are in a confidential phase. Clarity about a possible restart is expected in a few weeks.
