BAARN Het Wilde Oog is currently exhibiting in Theater de Speeldoos with two exhibitions: The New Past and Spakenburg Divas: Vitamins for Eemland. The New Past can be viewed until Sunday, November 12; the photo of Spakenburg Divas will have a permanent place in the theater.
Three Spakenburg women in traditional costumes had the courage to work with the artist duo of Het Wilde Oog. This Spakenburg Divas have been experiencing photo and video adventures for two decades with the ‘Look Wild & Think Nimble’ mentality. With the project Sustainable Divas in Eemland a wish of Hans Lemmerman and Inge van Run comes true: Eight photos from the image archive of Het Wilde Oog are anchored at eight locations in Amersfoort, Baarn, Bunschoten-Spakenburg and Soest. In this way, the twenty-year commitment of the three unique women to art takes on a sustainable function.
One of the eight locations is Theater de Speeldoos, a place where Wilde Ogers, trained as theater makers, feel at home. The photo shows how one of the Divas in the Amsterdam theater vigorously throws tomatoes at the stage. Next to her stands a diva with a large supply of tomatoes on a silver platter.
This act constitutes a repetition of Action Tomato in the same theater (1969). The women seem to argue for a revaluation of traditional costume and claim a place in art. From expectant Kniertjes to rebellious Divas! The photo in Theater de Speeldoos is a cultural enrichment for Baarn.
The exhibition The New Past can be seen until Sunday November 12 in the exhibition corridor of Theater de Speeldoos on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, in the evenings and on weekends during performances and other activities. More information: www.hetwildeoog.nl.
