The De government Croo has an agreement on the budget. “With this agreement we provide liberal solutions for people who work,” said Prime Minister Alexander De Croo.
Expansion of flexi-jobs
We ensure that everyone can earn some extra money tax-free. We do this by expanding the liberal flexi-jobs to 12 new sectors. Flexi-jobs will thus become possible for bus drivers, in education, childcare, the food sector, the funeral sector, in driving schools, in agriculture, the car sector, the public sports and culture sector, the moving sector, the real estate sector and in the events sector. “In this way we provide more helping hands where they are really needed, including in childcare,” says Prime Minister Alexander De Croo. The expansion of the sectors in which you can work flexi-jobs is in addition to the existing options. Thanks to liberals, you could already do a flexi-job in the catering industry, at bakers, butchers, in supermarkets, at the hairdresser, in the sports sector, etc. In total, thanks to the Liberals, you can work flexi-jobs in 22 sectors. “The expansion of flexi-jobs is also interesting for our companies, as it makes it easier for them to find people to fill their many vacancies, which currently number almost 200,000,” De Croo added.
Affordable housing
We also ensure that everyone can live comfortably and affordably. That is why we are permanently reducing the VAT on demolition and reconstruction from 21% to 6%. This not only makes buying or building a house a lot cheaper, it is also positive for the construction sector and it ensures faster renovation of existing homes. That is good news for the environment. A win-win situation, where we focus on the only private homes that are a maximum of 200 square meters in size. This is in addition to previous measures to achieve affordable housing.
Investing in a safe country
We continue to invest in a safe country. “In this way, we are strengthening the drug commissariat in the fight against drug crime and we are freeing up a budget for the road safety fund,” says Justice Minister Vincent Van Quickenborne. Because everyone must be able to travel safely to work or school. We also invest heavily in communications technology for emergency and security services. In addition, thanks to Van Quickenborne, there will also be an expansion of the care centers for people who are victims of sexual violence. To implement all these measures, we are releasing 500 million euros.
The government saves
The government must also take its responsibility. The federal government is conducting an exercise worth 1.7 billion euros. “The budget deficit will thus be reduced by 1.2 billion euros. As a result, the budget deficit for 2024 will fall below 3%. That is more than expected,” says State Secretary for Budget Alexia Bertrand.
