The first Evening for the City will take place on October 19 in the run-up to the council meeting of November 2. An important theme during this council meeting is Nieuwegein’s finances and this is reflected during the preparatory evenings.
On the agenda next week:
• Capital Goods Memorandum 2024-2027 municipal real estate
Municipal real estate includes buildings that the municipality owns and that are used for its own organization or for social purposes (such as healthcare and education). The capital goods memorandum shows the current state of municipal real estate, what goals the municipality has set in the field of maintenance and management and how it wants to achieve those goals. The municipal council will be asked to approve the memorandum on November 2; This evening the members will debate its contents.
• Vital schools
During the council meeting of November 2, the council will discuss the council proposal Vital schools Nieuwegein. With this council proposal, the municipality wants to ensure that outdated sports and school buildings in Nieuwegein are renovated and are up to date again. In addition, the municipality wants to transfer the responsibility for the maintenance of primary school buildings back to the school boards, as in most municipalities.
As usual, you are welcome to attend the meeting at City Hall. You can follow online via NieuwegeinseRaad.live/Stream1. Via this link you will also find the full agenda of the meeting and all associated documents.
