WIJCHEN – The SitePack platform, aimed at retailers who want to go online in an accessible manner, has divided its services more explicitly into websites and web shops. In fact, that was already the case, but this division is now expressed more emphatically in communication.
SitePack is a standard system with which you can create a website and/or webshop. In daily practice, they focus, among other things, on bicycle shops and work closely in the market with CycleSoftware and Wilmar. SitePack uses these cash register packages and automatically imports all the products with which they fill the webshop. We work with our own complete system and standard templates for web shops and websites.
SitePack is making a step towards professionalization
Brothers Martin and Peter van Wilderen are the technically minded founders of SitePack, who started their joint company in 2020 in a barracks in Grave that was converted into a business complex. Earlier this year they moved to one of the Bijsterhuizen industrial estates in Wijchen, near Nijmegen. “This space came our way through an entrepreneur friend, which was more interesting from all sides (location, costs, etc.),” Martin explains.
According to Peter, the new office building also fits in with the professionalization drive that they are making this year with SitePack. “Not only with our office, but also in data processing from the cash register systems to the web shops. That has all been addressed this year and we have made significant progress and are now becoming a bigger player.”
Peter (l.) and Martin van Wilderen: ‘Of course you don’t always have to sell online if you show live stock information on your website.’
Entrepreneurs from the specialist trade are increasingly finding SitePack, as evidenced by the registrations that arrive every week. Product development at SitePack is increasingly starting to bear fruit. “Our infrastructure allows us to update product information from the cash register systems much better. Automatically taking sold bicycles offline is also much faster,” Peter explains. “And if you have multiple branches, you can also show the stock at store level.”
“It’s nice to know that we already update the website four times a day in our cheapest package. Every time we consult the cash register to import new products and the stock information on the website is always 15 minutes old, maximum. It is even more current,” Martin adds. “We also have more expensive packages, where the updates are even faster, but this already indicates something and is – I think – distinctive.”
Peter let us know that the distribution of web shops and websites is approximately equal among their customer base. “We make websites for stores and not just web shops. That split is approximately fifty-fifty. For those who do not need a webshop, we can create websites with live stock information,” says Peter. “Of course, you don’t always have to sell online if you show live stock information on your website. That is possible, but not necessary. Half want to sell online, but the other half prefer to use the showroom for sales.”
Bicycle retailers recognize the value of a representative website
SitePack is listed as a partner by both CycleSoftware and Wilmar when customers indicate that they are looking for someone who can help them with a new website or webshop. Cyclesoftware works with several partners, at Wilmar SitePack is the ‘preferred partner’. Requests for websites are forwarded to SitePack.
Another part of the professionalization drive is that SitePack has recently officially become a training company and that they now also offer space for interns. “We can offer students a good place where they can learn a lot. We have now been approved for three internship positions: software development, marketing and communications and multimedia design,” says Peter.
According to the Van Wilderen brothers, more and more bicycle retailers recognize the value of a good and representative website. “Many entrepreneurs want to grow from a simple landing page with opening hours to a full-fledged website with a product range, without online sales. That is already a very good first step,” says Peter. “However, we notice in our sales process that entrepreneurs like it when you come to the store. After that they are also familiar with it and then the collaboration goes well. That is why Martin also goes out more often to visit retailers and get to know them.”
In addition to the Netherlands, SitePack is also active in Belgium, where they certainly already have several customers. “We recently connected a large Belgian chain. We now perform data processing for this via our platform. They do not have the website through us, they do it separately, but we do import their offer per store from CycleSoftware and we support this for all their 25 branches via our plug-in on their WordPress website,” Martin concludes.
