A bold statement, that next week will be the last decline for the time being. However, it can just happen. Not that there is so much confidence in the Dutch slaughterhouses, but the large German slaughterhouses have reached an agreement with the German ISN. Last Wednesday’s agreement entails a reduction of 10 cents by the German ISN and the major slaughterhouses, and a decrease of 5 cents to 2.10 euros. The price is fixed until November 8 and then we will see how the market is doing.
Hiermee komen we wel uit de negatieve spiraal van de varkensprijs die wekelijks naar beneden ging
The slaughterhouses see the advantage that they immediately have lower purchases and can compete better on the meat market and for the pig farmer it is immediately down sharply, but this does bring us out of the negative spiral of the pig price that went down every week. This will mean that the Netherlands will be able to drop another 5 cents next week and will then have to remain unchanged for a number of weeks. The buyers also know that there will be no lower price after this week and therefore more will be purchased in stock; which will support the price for the meat. The Farmer Pig Price is relieved that a bottom has been found and will therefore drop by 5 cents to 2.37 euros, but at the same time we realize that the balance for the fattening pig farmer will not be the great year predicted for the fattening pig farmer. is for the propagator.
Back to the Netherlands for a moment. Even though the price will drop next week, some slaughterhouses will still slaughter on Saturdays. It will have different reasons, but it will certainly contribute to the profit of this slaughterhouse. At 293,000 pigs, the supply is the same as last week, but the slaughter weight decreased by 0.2 kilograms. What is also striking is that the export of fattening pigs fell from almost 18,000 animals to just under 13,000 pigs. As mentioned, slaughterhouses want the pigs and because the price will remain the same after this week as expected, the pressure to deliver a little faster has immediately disappeared.
De prijs van de varkens is in drie maanden gedaald met 40 centen
Germany had a day off and this is immediately reflected in the slaughter numbers. At Tönnies they can say that the supply is ample with an average of 730,000 pigs in the last three weeks. This was partly made possible by the extra pigs from Denmark and the Netherlands, because they yielded more in Germany. But at Tönnies they will also see that only 624,000 animals have been slaughtered in one week compared to the 641,000 pigs in the same week last year. This means that approximately 100,000 fewer pigs were slaughtered in four weeks than in the same four weeks last year. In Germany there has been a decrease of 15 cents in two weeks, which means that the price of pigs has fallen by 40 cents in three months.
In Belgium and also in France the total decrease is now about 40 cents. In that respect, Denmark is doing better, minus 17.5 cents in total, but the price there was not very good; witness the large number of quitters and the decline in the pig herd by more than 10 percent. In Spain, the price will drop by 3.5 cents in the coming week, bringing the total to minus 30 cents. In Italy they could not quite maintain the highest price for this year, but what is there to complain about if the price drops by 0.2 cents.
Daling biggenprijs valt me gezien de val de varkensprijs
The sharp drop in the fattening pig price should put pressure on the piglet price. Of course it does, but not to such an extent that we have to immediately follow the German price, which will drop by 4.50 euros next week. The supply is not large and the Spaniards are asking for more piglets and they increased their price by 1 euro to 54 euros. The Boerenpiggen price will drop by 1 euro to 67 euros next week, making it clear that the bill for the pig price drop will fall to the fattening pig farmer, so the balance for 2023 will be very meager. We expect an unchanged or virtually unchanged price for both fattening pigs and piglets in the coming weeks.
