Ed Sheeran just pays taxes. And that makes him an exception in showbiz land. No BVs on tropical islands or at least a savings account in Switzerland, the British singer paid almost half of his income to the British treasury last year.
He earned more than 21 million euros in 2022. He paid 9.2 million euros in tax on this, according to British media. The 32-year-old singer says he wants to ‘help people’ with his money. His net worth is said to be around 288 million euros. He owns, among other things, a huge estate in Sussex, with three villas, a pub, a church and a tree house on the grounds.
He also gives a lot to charities. “For me it’s ‘make a cent, spend a cent’. As soon as it comes in, it goes out,” he once said in an interview. “I don’t care much about it. I prefer my friends and family to be okay. A lot of my money goes to charities or to children’s hospitals near where I live. I have enough to feel comfortable feel and the rest goes to helping people.”
People praise him. “You can say a lot about him and the way he spends his money, but at least he is honest,” one person wrote. “Unlike some other celebs, who cheat on their taxes.”
