In the province of Groningen, 69 dog fines were issued last year. In the city of Groningen there were no fewer than 67. The remaining fines were handed out in the municipalities of Midden-Groningen and Westerkwartier. This is evident from the biennial survey Beslist.nl. They analyzed the dog-related fines based on CJIB data (Central Judicial Collection Agency).
The number of fines for dog owners has been decreasing in the Netherlands for years.
Nearly 5,000
Last year, 1,636 dog-related fines were issued in our country. In 2016 there were almost 5,000.
Province
A decrease in dog fines can also be seen in the province of Groningen. In 2016, around 100 fines were issued here.
Dog tax
In 206 of the 342 municipalities, dog owners will no longer pay dog tax this year. That is 27 fewer than in 2022. In 2014, Groningen residents still paid this tax in 5 of the 10 current municipalities. The dog tax no longer applies in any Groningen municipality. Pekela was the last municipality to abolish this tax at the beginning of this year.
