Bianca Buurman at BNR Nieuwsradio

V&VN chairman Bianca Buurman was a guest at BNR Nieuwsradio on October 16. In the program ‘Doing Business’, Buurman explained the V&VN Election Manifesto in conversation with Thomas van Zijl from 12:00 to 13:00. The registration burden in particular was discussed prominently. “98% of registrations go well. Do you really need such a huge registration system,” Bianca Buurman wondered during the broadcast.

The decline in the number of students registering for healthcare courses also emerged. “The image of the profession is under pressure, because you hear a lot of negative stories,” said Buurman, who then spoke up for the most beautiful profession in the world. “We are there from birth to death and everything in between. It’s nice to be part of that. But then The Hague must invest heavily in nurses and caregivers. Otherwise the system will crash enormously. We must do everything we can to retain healthcare professionals.”

Buurman also mentioned the importance of reducing the demand for care. “Investing in social security is also effective for healthcare. If there is no social security, it can lead to psychological complaints, but there is often no room for healthy food or good housing. V&VN advocates investments in social security and prevention as measures to prevent people from needing care.”
