Collect historic Nieuwkoop pictures at Jumbo Bas Bobeldijk

On Wednesday, September 27, Mayor Robbert-Jan van Duijn kicked off a new savings campaign at Jumbo Bas Bobeldijk. Over the next nine weeks, customers can save for a series of no less than 252 pictures about the history of the municipality of Nieuwkoop. The mayor of Nieuwkoop received the first copy of the collection album ‘Nieuwkoop, a journey through time’ from supermarket entrepreneur Bas Bobeldijk. An initiative that the mayor – with cultural history in his portfolio – can really appreciate. “I think it’s a very nice campaign and with this album as a reference work I can learn something from it myself.”

Treasures of Nieuwkoop’s past in pictures
The savings campaign was realized thanks to the enormous involvement and efforts of the Historical Society of Nieuwkoop en Omstreek Foundation. The enterprising owner of the supermarket on Kennedyplein in Nieuwkoop is extremely proud of the end result. “Nieuwkoop has a rich history and a beautiful community. We looked for a way to honor both. We have always strived to be more than just a place to do your shopping. We feel part of this community and that’s why it feels good to to collaborate with the Historical Society to create a collection album that portrays the treasures of Nieuwkoop’s past,” says the enthusiastic Bas Bobeldijk.

Extensive job
Bram Poot was one of the volunteers of the Historical Society who spent the past four months collecting the right images and writing the accompanying stories. The album takes readers on a fascinating journey through the history of Nieuwkoop, with images and stories that show Nieuwkoop’s past. “That was quite an extensive job for us, but also a great opportunity to bring the history of our beautiful municipality to life and share it,” says Bram Poot. “We hope people cherish these images and the album and that it inspires them to learn more about the rich history of our beautiful village.”

Collect pictures with every 10 euros worth of groceries
During the promotional period, a set of four historical pictures will be provided for free with every €10 spent at Jumbo Bas Bobeldijk. These pictures can be pasted into the collection album. This album is available free of charge at the supermarket upon presentation of a voucher, while supplies last.

Save for the grandchildren
The savings campaign was received with great enthusiasm by the residents of Nieuwkoop. Many have already started collecting the historical pictures to fill their albums. This also applies to Bram Poot: “I am going to save two albums full for two of my grandchildren.” Now residents of Nieuwkoop and the surrounding villages can keep the history of their charming village alive while doing their daily shopping.
