Evening for the City on Thursday, October 26

Nieuwegein’s finances will be discussed during the council meeting on November 2. This meeting is being prepared this evening with the discussion of the Capital Goods memorandum and next week (26 October) there will also be financial themes on the agenda.

• Capital Goods Memorandum 2024-2027 public space
While the Capital Goods for Municipal Real Estate memorandum will be discussed tonight, next week it will be time for the Capital Goods for public space. Municipal real estate concerns buildings that are owned by the municipality and that are used for the performance of social tasks such as healthcare, education, welfare, sports and culture. The memorandum on public space mainly concerns matters such as roads, sewerage, street lighting and greenery. A Capital Goods bill shows the municipality’s financial position and how much management and maintenance of these things will cost in the coming years. The municipal council will be asked to agree to this memorandum on November 2 and will have the opportunity to debate the plans on October 26.

• Budget 2024
The budget shows how the municipality:
wants to distribute the money in the years 2024-2027. In broad terms, this has already been discussed with the municipal council during the Framework Council on July 6. The Framework Memorandum was discussed that day. That is a first step towards the budget. The council may put forward all kinds of proposals and the municipality then draws up a budget. It will be on the table on November 2. This evening the city council will debate the budget with the council.

As usual, you are welcome to attend the meeting at City Hall. You can follow online via NieuwegeinseRaad.live/Stream1. You will also find the complete agenda of the meeting and all associated documents via this link
