New construction Tips from the editors
VEENENDAAL The Municipality of Veenendaal and KUDO Vastgoed BV have signed an agreement for the redevelopment of the northern part of the Corridor (construction phase 1 & 2). The plan reduces the commercial space from 7,000 to 2,500 square meters and adds 130 new apartments. The plan is to start realizing this project in mid-2024. The municipality announced this in a press release.
According to the municipality, the center of Veenendaal has been characterized by development for many years. Councilor Engbert Stroobosscher: “The goal is often to strengthen the economic functioning of the center. Because housing is becoming increasingly important in Veenendaal, this has also been included in the redevelopment of the Corridor.” Frank van Woerden of KUDO Vastgoed BV: “We are reducing the commercial space from 7,000 to 2,500 square meters, in order to reduce retail vacancy. We are also adding 130 apartments. This combination fits well in today’s times, where the demand for living in the center is increasingly growing.” The design was shared and discussed with the surrounding area during a participation evening in February this year.

The Tuinstraat vision was adopted by the municipal council in 2020 and concerns the transformation of the Tuinstraat. The goal is to move from a predominantly distribution street to a green residential/city street. According to the municipality of Veenendaal, the plan for Corridor construction phases one and two fits in seamlessly with this and is the first development within the vision. “With this development, the relatively closed east wall of the Tuinstraat will be opened up more and more homes will be created on the Tuinstraat. This ensures that Tuinstraat has a more open appearance and becomes even more involved with the rest of the center,” says councilor Engbert Stroobosscher.
A new zoning plan is needed to make the plans possible. The draft zoning plan will be available for review from September 1, 2023 to October 13, 2023. The zoning plan and environmental permit are expected to be adopted in the first quarter of 2024, after which construction will start. This project can be followed via www.kudo.nl.
