GroenLinks-PvdA wants to accelerate the greening of agriculture. That is why the party advocates in its election manifesto, among other things, a tax on fertilizers and chemical crop protection products.
In the run-up to the House of Representatives elections, Nieuwe Oogst interviews a number of agricultural spokespersons in the House of Representatives. Laura Bromet (53) has been a Member of Parliament for GroenLinks-PvdA since 2018 and is the first in this series. She is in eleventh place on the candidate list of the new combination party.
Bromet acknowledges that her party’s sustainability proposals lead to higher food prices. ‘We want to start a movement that will reduce the price difference with non-sustainable food and ensure that farmers receive a fair price for their product.’
To ensure that all consumers can buy sustainable products, low incomes and benefits must be increased. ‘That is why we are also a left-wing party. The redistribution of these environmental burdens should not take place via the farmer or our plate. That is why we believe that the minimum wage and benefits should be increased. Then those people can also afford that more expensive food,” says Bromet.
