Hart voor Den Haag again advocates more investments in safety and full implementation of the 10-point plan
On Tuesday, the police distributed images of two boys attacking another boy with machetes in the middle of a busy tram stop in The Hague. The victim was just barely hit by the enormous knives. One of the two suspects has now been arrested, the other is still being sought. (1) “Hart for The Hague is hardly surprised anymore by the fact that young people are increasingly carrying knives as large as half swords, and thus actually stabbing, and much worse is the fact that the new council hardly invests in the safety portfolio and thus emerging crime is rampant,” said opposition leader Richard de Mos, who will come up with a number of proposals during the discussion of the coalition agreement tomorrow to invest additionally in improving security. “The fact that more and more young people here think they can be the great Ivanhoe is completely unacceptable!”
Hart previously advocated for The Hague to introduce a 10-point plan to combat gun ownership among young people. (2) “We are, among other things, in favor of the introduction of Schoolcops, a brigade of police officers who come to schools unannounced to check for weapons possession. Of our ten points, only the introduction of the knife ban has been adopted so far.”
