“Jellie knew at the beginning of December last year that she was ill again. She continued to work until the beginning of February this year and was able to have some very nice conversations, which she was very happy with.”
Hoksbergen says that there was no farewell on the radio. “Because we hoped with her that she would make a nice last broadcast.” Brouwer was also ill in 2017 and then returned. “Unfortunately, reality has caught up with her and she is in the final phase of her life.”
The editor-in-chief finishes the announcement with a sob in her voice. “We thank you, listeners, on behalf of Jellie Brouwer. For all the sweet reactions, the compliments, the loyal listening. It does her good to know that she is missed.”
“We also miss her as fellow program makers of NTR and Radio 1. Since the start of Plastic, 22 years ago already, she is one of the regular presenters. With her very own tone, her taste, her humour, she intuitively managed to get to the heart of the matter very quickly. Because every person has a story. She just had to look for it.”
