Should FC Emmen invest in a women’s branch? This is the result of the statement of the day

FC Emmen wants to get started with women’s football. This poses some challenges, because that step costs a lot of time and money. Should the club invest in a women’s team?

Yes, says 61 percent of the participants. “Football is no longer just a men’s sport, women are even doing better than men on the world stage. Every sport should be accessible to women and men, so every sports club must invest in both men and women. This also applies to FC Emmen,” writes one supporter.

“There are more and more girls starting to play football in this region. Many girls have a dream of becoming a top football player. For this they have to move to Zwolle, Heerenveen or Groningen. What could be better than just being able to play football in the province?”, writes another participant.

Opponents are in the minority with 39 percent. “Emmen must use every cent to get back into the Premier League. The women will come, women’s football simply does not yield enough,” says someone who voted against.

“Let them first build a decent grass field so that fewer injuries occur at FC Emmen. Furthermore, ensure that FC Emmen becomes a permanent mid-ranking player in the Premier League. If these two conditions are met, only then should investments be made in a professional women’s team,” says another opponent.
